✅ Description:

Ticacard 90mg Tablet is an antiplatelet drug (blood thinner) primarily used to:

  • Prevent heart attacks and strokes in people at high risk of heart disease.
  • Prevent blood clots in individuals with acute coronary syndrome (when the heart doesn't get enough oxygen), especially those who have had stents placed in their coronary arteries.
  • Reduce the risk of heart attack, which can occur when blood flow to the heart is blocked by a clot. This blockage is often caused by plaque accumulation in the arteries.

Ticagrelor, the active ingredient in Ticacard 90, prevents blood clot formation by inhibiting platelet aggregation.

  • Platelets are blood cells that help stop bleeding by clumping together to form clots. In people with a high risk of heart attack or stroke, platelets may stick together inside narrowed arteries, forming clots that block blood flow to the heart or brain.
  • Ticacard 90 slows the clotting action by making platelets less sticky, thereby reducing the risk of clot formation.

Your doctor will provide a dosage schedule tailored to your condition. It's crucial to follow their advice.

  • Not for use in individuals with active bleeding or those with a history of bleeding in the brain or issues with blood flow.
  • If you experience any allergic reactions to medicines or food, notify your doctor before starting Ticacard 90.
  • Do not stop taking Ticacard 90 suddenly without consulting your doctor, as discontinuing the medication may increase the risk of a heart attack.
  • Inform your doctor before undergoing any surgeries or starting new medications.
  • Ticacard 90 should not be used before or after heart bypass surgery.
  • Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding before using this medication.

Ticacard 90 may interact with other medications. Always inform your doctor about any drugs you are currently taking, especially:

  • Blood thinners (e.g., aspirin, warfarin)
  • Pain relievers (e.g., ibuprofen)
  • Antidepressants (e.g., citalopram, nefazodone)
  • Antibiotics (e.g., clarithromycin, rifampicin)
  • Cholesterol-lowering medications (e.g., simvastatin)
  • Heart medications (e.g., digoxin)

If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, it is essential to consult your doctor before taking this medication. The doctor will assess whether the benefits outweigh the risks.

Breastfeeding

✔️ How does Ticacard 90 work?

Ticacard 90 works by preventing platelets (a type of blood cell) from collecting and forming clots and thereby reduces the risk of a heart attack or a stroke (damage to your brain resulting from reduced/blocked blood supply).

  • Some possible side effects include:
    • Dyspnea (shortness of breath)
    • Chest tightness
    • Blurred vision
    • Nosebleeds

✔️ Acute Coronary Syndrome

Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) refers to a range of conditions caused by the sudden reduction or blockage of blood flow to the heart, which can lead to serious outcomes such as a heart attack, stroke, or even death. Tiare 90 Tablet, when taken in combination with aspirin, is used to prevent further complications, such as:

  • Myocardial Infarction (Heart Attack): Occurs when the blood supply to part of the heart muscle is blocked, leading to tissue damage.
  • Stroke: Caused by a blockage or rupture of blood vessels in the brain, restricting blood flow.
  • Death: Due to complications arising from ACS.

Tiare 90 Tablet works by inhibiting platelet aggregation (blood clotting), helping to reduce the risk of these life-threatening events following an ACS.

✔️ Ticagrelor is a P2Y12 receptor antagonist that:
  • Blocks the P2Y12 receptor, which is coupled with Gαi2 and other Gi proteins.
  • Inhibits adenylyl cyclase activity, reducing cyclic AMP levels.
  • Prevents Gi-mediated signaling pathways, such as PI3K, Akt, and Rap1b activation, as well as potassium channel regulation.

By antagonizing the P2Y12 receptor, Ticagrelor:

  • Reduces platelet aggregation, preventing the formation of occlusive thrombi.
  • Decreases the risk of myocardial infarction and ischemic stroke in patients with atherothrombotic risks.
✔️ Dosage & Administration of Ticacard 90

Patients taking Ticagrelor should also take a daily low-maintenance dose of acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) (75-150 mg) unless contraindicated.

Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS)

  • Loading Dose: Start with 180 mg (two 90 mg tablets) as a single dose.
  • Maintenance Dose: Continue with 90 mg twice daily for up to 12 months, unless earlier discontinuation is clinically indicated.

  • Dose for Extended Treatment: 60 mg twice daily is recommended for patients:
    • With a history of MI at least one year prior.
    • At high risk of an atherothrombotic event.
  • Timing:
    • Treatment can follow immediately after the initial one-year therapy with ticagrelor or another ADP receptor inhibitor.
    • It can also be started up to 2 years after an MI or within 1 year of stopping prior ADP receptor inhibitor therapy.
  • Duration: Limited safety and efficacy data are available for treatment beyond 3 years.
